Psychological trauma

I have three children. Tykwinski‘s actions dramatically and negatively affected each of them.

First child

In their first year at the University of Alberta, my child tells their friends that their father teaches at the University. Some of my child’s friends are in my class. The friends tell my child that their dad is an awesome instructor.

In second year, their father is no longer an instructor. Rumors are circulating, thanks to Tykwinski‘s email to the entire department. My child is inundated with questions. What did your dad do? Are they being charged? Are they being sued? Are they going to jail? Plus all the denigrating and defaming comments about their father based on the rumors.

The rumors are lies, started and perpetuated by Tykwinski and the University of Alberta.

I was unaware of the widespread rumors until being told and asked by my children. Do you know how hard it is to ask your father questions like this? Do you know how hard it is to be asked these questions by your children?

Second child

This child is starting University that year. The subject I taught is an elective in their program. They are in the section with the worst of the new instructors. Rumors are circulating, thanks to Tykwinski‘s email to the entire department. There are questions asked in lecture and in lab. Laboratory teaching assistants talk about it.

My child is asked if they are related, because their last name is the same. How do they answer that?

Not only does my child get abysmal instruction, they are literally surrounded with denigrating and defaming comments about their father.

The rumors are lies, started and perpetuated by Tykwinski and the University of Alberta.

Again, I was unaware of the widespread rumors until being told and asked by my children. Do you know how hard it is to ask your father questions like this? Do you know how hard it is to be asked these questions by your children?

Third child

This child chose not to attend post-secondary.
